I’d just acquired a new lens, the legendary Zodiak-8 (ARSAT), 3.5/30 superwide-angle, fisheye, and as it was supposedly a good choice for architectural work I was keen to try it out, where better then than the easiest of the Seven Sisters to photograph, Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The Seven Sisters are a group of Skyscrapers in Moscow built in the Stalinist style and whilst all are incredible photogenic this is the easiest to frame given it’s relatively isolated location on Sparrow hill, it remains to this day the tallest educational building in the world.

Surprisingly at this distance there was no distortion evident in the resulting image, close ups and portraits show a pronounced fishbowl effect, so perhaps it’s reputation for architecture is well deserved.
